Terms of Use

DRAFT — NOT REVIEWED BY COUNSEL. THIS DOCUMENT DESCRIBES REAL PRODUCT BEHAVIOUR BUT HAS NOT BEEN REVIEWED BY A QUALIFIED LAWYER AND IS NOT YET IN FORCE.

These Terms govern your use of METAG.AI ("METAG", "we", "us") — the website at metag.ai, the browser-based Studio editor, the macOS application, our HTTP API and our MCP endpoint. Using any of them means you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

This draft replaces an earlier document inherited from another company's terms. Where the two conflict, this one is what we intend to be bound by. Two clauses in the old document contradicted what we tell people on our own homepage — a perpetual licence to train models on your content, and a rule that all fees are non-refundable — and neither is carried forward here.

1What the service does

METAG turns a sentence into a short multi-shot film: it writes a storyboard, renders an opening frame for each shot, narrates it, generates the shots on an engine you choose, and hands you an editable timeline. It also provides an editor with on-device transcription and captions, image editing, voice cloning, and an interface that lets external AI agents drive all of it on your behalf.

2Accounts

You need an account, created by signing in through Google, GitHub or Apple. You must be at least eighteen. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by an AI agent you have given a token to. Keep your token private; anyone holding it can spend your credits.

One person gets one free-credit grant. We identify repeat grants by a salted hash of your verified email address, which means signing up again through a different provider, or deleting your account and returning, does not produce a second grant. We may also withhold the grant when an unusual number of accounts is created from one network.

3Credits and how charging works

The service runs on credits. Every priced action has a fixed credit cost published at our pricing endpoint, and the price you are shown before you approve is the price we charge. This is the core commitment of the product and we hold ourselves to it.

The draft is free

Generating a draft — storyboard, opening frames, narration, a watchable preview — costs zero credits. Revising individual shots of that draft costs zero credits. You are charged only when you approve the draft for final generation. Free drafts are rate-limited, because they occupy real hardware.

Per-shot routing

When you approve a draft, we route each shot to the cheapest engine that can deliver what that shot needs, up to the quality tier you selected. The result is never more expensive than running the whole film on the tier you chose. The quote you see reflects the routed cost.

Failed generations are refunded

If a job fails, the credits charged for it are returned to your balance automatically and recorded in your credit ledger. The refund is applied once per job.

Paid actions outside generation

Image editing, voice cloning, synthesis with a cloned voice, and vision-assisted editing each carry their own published credit cost. For these we check your balance first and charge only after the action succeeds.

Credits are not money

Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred between accounts and cannot be redeemed for currency.

4Subscriptions and payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. We publish our plans and their credit allocations at our pricing endpoint; the plan you see at checkout is the plan you buy. Subscriptions bill monthly and renew automatically at the then-current price for that plan until you cancel. Each successful payment adds that plan's credits to your balance.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from the billing portal, which we reach through Stripe. There is no notice period and no cancellation fee. We do not require advance notice; if you cancel today, you keep the current period and are not billed again.

Credits you already hold

Cancelling a subscription does not remove credits already in your balance. You may spend them after the subscription ends.

Refunds

Ask us at hi@metag.ai. We do not operate a blanket no-refund rule, and we will not hide behind one. Where local consumer law gives you a right to withdraw or to a refund, that right applies regardless of anything in this document.

What happens after a refund or chargeback

If a payment is refunded or charged back, we reverse the credits that payment granted. Because you may already have spent them, this can leave your balance negative, in which case your next purchase clears the shortfall before adding new credits. A refunded subscription also ends immediately rather than running to the end of the period. We think this is the fair arrangement, but we would rather state it than have you discover it.

5Your content

You own what you bring and what you make

As between you and us, you own the material you supply — prompts, footage, images, audio, voice samples — and you own the films, images and audio the service produces for you. We claim no ownership of either.

The licence we take is the minimum needed to run the service

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, transmit, process and display your content, and to pass it to the third-party providers listed in our Privacy Policy, solely in order to perform the operations you asked for. That licence ends when the content is deleted. It is not perpetual and it is not irrevocable.

We do not train on your content

We do not use your inputs or your outputs to train, fine-tune or evaluate any model of ours. Third-party model providers are governed by their own terms, which we cannot promise on their behalf.

You are responsible for what you supply

You confirm that you hold the rights to the material you upload and that using it through this service does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or personality rights.

Generated output is not guaranteed unique

Generative models can produce similar output for similar prompts, for you and for someone else. We do not warrant that any output is original, or that it can be registered or protected, or that it is free of third-party rights.

6Voice cloning

Cloning a voice creates a model capable of speaking in that voice. A voiceprint identifies a person, and several jurisdictions treat it as biometric or personality-right data. This section is not boilerplate.

Whose voice you may clone

Your own, or one whose owner has given you documented permission to clone it for this purpose. Nothing else. Public figures, actors, colleagues and strangers are not yours to clone.

Before cloning, you confirm in the product that the sample is your own voice or that you hold the rights to it. We record the time of that confirmation and the IP address it came from. If a dispute arises about a cloned voice, that record is what we will produce, and it identifies you.

What we will do about complaints

If someone credibly claims a voice was cloned without their permission, we may suspend the voice and the account without notice while we look into it, and we will delete the voice if the claim holds.

Where the sample goes

To our object storage and to our voice provider. The Privacy Policy describes this, including a current limitation in how samples are deleted, and you should read that section before cloning a voice.

7AI-generated content must stay labelled

Every film we generate is labelled as AI-generated in two ways: an on-screen mark, and a signature written into the file's metadata. The on-screen mark can be turned off in some configurations. The metadata signature cannot, and you must not strip it. Both exist because labelling synthetic media is required by law in jurisdictions we operate in, including China's measures on labelling AI-generated content and Article 50 of the EU AI Act.

Removing the label in order to pass generated material off as a real recording is a breach of these Terms, and it may also be a breach of the law where you are.

8What you may not do

Do not use the service to create sexual material involving minors, or non-consensual sexual imagery of anyone. Do not clone a voice or likeness in order to impersonate a real person, endorse something on their behalf, or commit fraud. Do not generate material designed to deceive people about a real event, election or public figure. Do not produce content that harasses, defames or incites violence against anyone.

Do not upload material you have no right to use. Do not use the website-capture feature against sites you have no right to reproduce, and do not use it to attack a site. Do not attempt to reach another user's jobs, files or voices. Do not circumvent rate limits, credit charging or the free-grant deduplication, including by creating multiple accounts for that purpose. Do not resell raw access to our generation capacity as though it were your own.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches this section. Where the breach is serious we will do so without notice.

9Agents and API access

Our MCP endpoint lets an external AI agent act as you. Some of its tools spend credits immediately and without a confirmation step; others produce a free draft and require an explicit approval before anything is charged. Which is which is stated in each tool's description.

Charges incurred by an agent holding your token are your charges. If you are wiring an agent into this service and want a human in the loop, use the tools that quote before charging.

10Availability, retention and limits

Rendered files are written to our object storage and kept there so that a film you paid for stays retrievable. They are deleted when you delete the film or close your account. A short-lived copy also sits in memory-backed storage on the machine that produced it and is cleared within a few hours; that copy is a cache, not the record. The prompt and storyboard attached to a job are still erased twenty-four hours after the job is created; we keep the accounting fields and the rendered output. We changed this on 1 August 2026: films used to be deleted about an hour after they were produced, which meant a job could report success while the files behind it were already gone. We would rather hold your work than charge you for something that disappears.

All endpoints are rate-limited per account, and generation requests are rejected when the queue is full. We may change limits, prices and engine tiers. Price changes apply to purchases made after the change; a subscription renews at the price published for its plan at renewal.

11No warranty

The service is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, that generation will succeed, that output will meet your expectations, or that any third-party engine will remain available. We depend on external model providers and they change without consulting us.

12Limitation of liability

To the extent the law where you live allows it, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or breaches of your statutory consumer rights.

13Ending the relationship

You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account from within the product. Deletion is irreversible and is described in the Privacy Policy, including what survives it. Unused credits are not refunded on voluntary deletion.

We may terminate an account for breach of these Terms. If we terminate an account that was not in breach — for example because we discontinue the service — we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid subscription period.

14Governing law and disputes

This section is deliberately unfinished. The inherited document specified individual arbitration with a class-action waiver, on behalf of a company whose jurisdiction was not ours. We are not asserting that clause, and we are not going to invent a replacement without advice. Governing law, forum and dispute procedure will be settled during legal review and published here before these Terms take effect. Until then, nothing in this document purports to waive any right you have to bring a claim in your own courts.

15Changes to these Terms

We will post material changes here with a new date and keep the history below.

July 29, 2026

First version written for METAG.AI, replacing an inherited template. Removes the perpetual, irrevocable licence to train models on customer content and the blanket no-refund rule, both of which contradicted our own product claims. Adds the credits and quote-before-charge model, free drafts, per-shot routing, cancellation without notice, the voice-cloning section, the AI-labelling obligation, agent and API responsibility, and retention limits. Governing law is left open pending legal review.
